What materials do you machine?
Carbon and alloy steels, stainless steels, duplex and super duplex stainless steels, Inconel and other nickel alloys, exotic metals, cast iron, aluminium, brass and copper, supplied as castings, fabrications, forgings or stock material.
What is the largest part you can machine?
Parts up to 10 tonnes and up to 3 metres diameter or cubed. Horizontal boring travels reach X 3,000 mm on CNC, vertical turning handles up to 2,134 mm diameter by 1,120 mm high, and our overhead cranes lift 10 t and 5 t.
What processes do you offer?
Large CNC horizontal boring and milling, CNC vertical boring and turning, large CNC milling, large diameter turning and manual horizontal boring, with inspection by manual gauges and a Faro portable arm.
Do you take one-offs as well as batches?
Yes. We machine prototypes, one-offs and batch work to your drawings and specifications.
Can you machine castings or fabrications we supply?
Yes. Free-issue castings, fabrications and forgings are welcome; our terms of sale cover processing of materials you provide.
What do you need to give me a quote?
The drawing (PDF, DXF, DWG, STEP or IGES), the material, the quantity and when you need the parts. Quotes are free.
What are your lead times?
Lead times depend on the job and on machine loading. We give a delivery date with every quote and tell you if a machine has capacity sooner.
Do you turn long shafts?
Long slender shafts between centres are not our core work, as our turning is done on vertical lathes. Send the drawing and we will tell you straight away whether it suits our machines.
How do you inspect large parts?
Every part is checked against the drawing before dispatch, using conventional measuring equipment and a Faro Prime 2.4 m six-axis portable arm that mounts on the part or a tripod.
Are you ISO 9001 certified?
Yes. We have held BSI certification since 2011 and operate to ISO 9001:2015, certificate number FS 569306.
Do you deliver?
Prices are ex works unless agreed otherwise. We can arrange delivery; tell us the delivery address with your enquiry.
Where are you, and when are you open?
Derby Road, Clay Cross, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, S45 9AG, a short drive from junction 29 of the M1. Monday to Thursday, 07:30 to 16:00. Deliveries are accepted up to 30 minutes before closing.
